Mouse with a tail

Dec 13, 2004 by Graeme in Bluetooth

Maybe the odd wire in your life isn’t so bad after all. I’ve retired my Bluetooth mouse and bought a new mouse with a wire. For the past year it has taken me up to 30 seconds to get the mouse working each time I return to my computer (involving a tedious process along the lines of wiggle it, wait, take the batteries out, put them back in, wait, wiggle, wait, etc…) and I’ve had enough.

Besides - it wasn’t quick enough for Half-Life 2. ;)

floAt’s Mobile Agent

Feb 11, 2004 by Graeme in Bluetooth

Via PubSub I found this post by Gnegg, which mentions FMA:

If you own either a T610 or Z600 mobile phone, you may know of floAt’s Mobile Agent a not-so-stable but even more powerful tool for accessing the phone from your PC. Sending SMSes, Managing contacts, even getting a popup windows when somebody calls you - everything is possbible.

I’ve now installed the latest build of FMA and it’s superb. Now, if I happen to be using my laptop and someone calls me on my mobile or I get an SMS message, I get a pop up window with the details. I can even reply to a message whilst my phone is safely tucked in my back pocket!

Even better - whenever I leave my desk to go and get a coffee, my laptop now knows I’m not there and locks itself until I return and enter my password! Brilliant!

FMA also supports scripts, but the documentation is sparse to say the least and I haven’t yet managed to get any of the samples working, let alone my own…

Update: FMA has moved here.
