Creative jiggle Vista support dates

Jan 09, 2007 by Graeme in Uncategorized

Only a couple of days ago support for my laptop soundcard seemed just around the corner, but now it’s TBA. However, the old beta drivers have been pulled and it looks like some of the final versions are starting to appear…

If you’re waiting for Creative Vista drivers I suggest you check!

Update: The beta drivers have been pulled because they expired yesterday.

Surrealist humour from 7-year-olds

Jan 09, 2007 by Graeme in Fun

Last night Harry came up with the following joke:

Q: Why didn’t the belly have a button?
A: Because the belly button was in the eyeball of the person.

It reminded me of a joke Declan once told when he was around the same age:

Q: What do you call a chicken with no legs?
A: A handbag.

They both found their jokes hilarious, but I think the rest of us were guilty of laughing at them rather than with them…

Xbox 360 HDMI pr0n

Jan 07, 2007 by Graeme in Uncategorized

I’m trying to hold off on an Xbox 360 purchase until the rumoured update to the console is available. Here’s a video that shows two reasons why:

  1. It shows the new HDMI output in action
  2. You can hear the music over the fan noise when the console is switched on ;)

Silence isn’t golden

Two things I’m regularly checking for at the moment are:

Audigy ZS Series drivers for Vista

At the moment I’m stuck with my laptop’s built-in speakers. The final Vista drivers aren’t available yet and the headphone jack cuts them off but fails to output anything. Creative’s Vista Driver Availablity page currently says “Next release: January” - that’s odd, I’m sure it said December a couple of weeks ago… It’s a shame as the Media Center looks great on my 47″ 1080p TV, but it doesn’t sound great!

Windows Mobile Device Center for Vista

I’ve had zero joy with the beta of Windows Mobile Device Center, so I’m currently syncing to my XP desktop. Hopefully a new version will be available in time for Vista’s general release at the end of the month.

Vista looks great and works great, and I’m happy that I only have a couple of niggles left to iron out.

David “Elsewhere” Bernal

Jan 05, 2007 by Graeme in Fun

I somehow missed the fuss a few years ago, but I’ve just stumbled upon this video of David “Elsewhere” Bernal at Kollaboration 2001. This guy is incredible. He must have muscles on his muscles to have such fine and absolute control of his body. There are a few other videos linked to from Wikipedia, but his debut really does it for me. The reaction of the audience says it all when he gets down to business.

In related “news,” the wife and I are starting dance lessons on Monday, wish me luck!
