Watch out for this one! It seems pretty well spread. Also, it can be from people you know - I believe it uses your address book to spread.
Matt: Why is it a scary day? Well, I just got an email with an attachment. So? Whats your point…well a few things:
1. The email was from someone I didn’t know, no biggie I get these all the time for support.
2. No subject. Well, this isn’t always a problem, since I know some users just don’t know that the cursor starts at the subject line 99% of the time.
3. The email said “test”. Huh, now thats a bugger, I guess it worked?
4. There was an attached file, a zipped one - wow someone sent me pictures?Well, if you haven’t figured it out yet, I’ve finally seen something I’ve been dreading for the longest time, a zipped-up virus attached to an email. Why is this so important, though…it can pass through almost all server based virus scanners scanning emails as they come across. So, as I quickly alerted my employer (which then sent out a company wide email stating roughly the same thing), I wanted to alert the community as well. Be alarmed if you receive an email from someone you don’t know that has a zipped attachment…especially if the attachment contains a .pif file.
UPDATE: CNet is reporting this virus now, be warned! (story)

An ex-colleague of mine has won the BBC’s prestigious Lunchtime Bonus Question. Well done Peter!
The third winner of the Lunchtime Achievement Award is Peter Seed of Maidenhead for his pathetically wrong question on Monday. Barely hiding his joy, he said: “Personally I thought the Boat Race gag was the best, but the writer is probably not so photogenic.”

Wow! This is really, really good. Try it.
Scoble: Musicplasma is a tool that will allow you to identify all the artists that fit your musical tastes. Very cool.

Lots of reminders about the Visual Studio .NET PowerToys are popping up today, and not before time. My favourite is the Control Outline tool.

TODO: read this… (thanks Chris)
Brent Rector’s PDC book on Longhorn/WinFX is now available for purchase. We’re posting the chapters on the Longhorn DevCenter, but atoms are nice, too, especially when they come in the shape of a book.

I’m in the same situation as Roy. His second problem doesn’t affect me, but I miss being able to tweak the HTML, and the lack of <blockquote/> tags is a showstopper. If it wasn’t for these few problems, I could see myself using BlogJet on a regular basis, which would probably result in a lot more posts. It’s so much quicker than the .Text web UI.
I really like BlogJet, but it has two main problems:
- No spell checking. Even the spell checking component I installed (the one used in .Text) does not work on text in it. This is bad news for me because I often spell wrong complex word (especially when using a Norwegian layout keyboard!)
- No ability to set the “Aggregate to main feed” on or off for a specific post.
I find myself using the online .Text still, even though BlogJet is installed. Pity.

Matt Hawley has released a plugin for NewsGator which allows posting to usenet newsgroups. This is one of the most frequently requested features, so Greg must be chuffed!
