Gizmodo: Unusual new box from EJ Enterprises that let’s you use any turntable to scratch and mix MP3s and video or control any MIDI device like a synthesizer or a drum machine. The EJ MIDI Turntable works by reading special disc that is read by an optical cartridge that must be attached to the turntable’s tone arm.

A Night Out In Seattle

Nov 24, 2003 by Graeme in Uncategorized

Hey Dare, glad you enjoyed the match, but England beat Australia, not Ireland… Obviously the Irish in that particular bar weren’t supporting England!

Last night a went to an Irish bar with a couple of friends to watch the Rugby World Cup. It was a well-fought match that went into overtime with a number of tense moments eventually resulting in England being victorious over Ireland. The price of admission was a bit steep ($20) but raucous bar atmosephere was a fun way to watch my first rugby match. It reminded me of American Football with no pads and soccer-isms like “offsides”, “throw ins” and “free kicks”. The fact that the ball could only be moved forward by running or kicking which explained all the backward passes was also quite different from American Football. Definitely an interesting experience.

It’s not fair! I want my Project Gotham Racing 2 today!

Why do the Yanks get a 10-day head start over us Europeans? Are they scared that we’re going to thrash them on Xbox Live?

Yes :)

No Network

Nov 18, 2003 by Graeme in Uncategorized

Uh-oh. My Sony Ericsson T68i is showing all the symptoms of the “famous No Network bug,” a nasty problem with early revisions of firmware which causes a component (to do with the antenna) to overheat and ultimately stop working.

I was planning to upgrade in January but I suppose now’s as good a time as any. It’s weird not having a working mobile after all this time, I feel very cut off. :(

On Thursday of last week my site suddenly started to let a lot of extra hits without any referrer information. It turns out that PopHeadlines was mentioned in the Guardian… Thanks Pete!

intraVnews 1.0 - Outlook qua RSS Reader

More competition for NewsGator

intraVnewsWhen I heard “intraVnews”, I thought about my love-hate relationship with interviews, too. But intraVnews is not of this kind, it’s all good and all relaxed:
intraVnews makes Outlook read RSS feeds naturally, allowing for smart grouping, searching, filtering and archiving of news items and blog posts. (Windows)

How to install WIDCOMM 1.4.x when your hardware manufacturer hasn’t updated the drivers yet…

Nov 04, 2003 by Graeme in Uncategorized

I found this forum posting, via a comment on ChrisAn’s blog and a usenet posting, which gives some non-trivial installation instructions (you’ll need a hex editor!) for the WIDCOMM 1.4.1.4 stack. Apparently this is one way to get some more profiles working on your Microsoft Bluetooth adapter!

I’m going to wait for TDK to release their updated drivers. When they finally arrive they’ll be ultra-reliable because they’ve been tested for 4 months now… Were they really that bad to start with?
