Lockergnome has been “relaunched” with a cool new appearence. Looks a bit more sophisticated now, but who cares as long as the content’s as good as before!

Bracing myself

Oct 25, 2003 by Graeme in Uncategorized

Not long now until the PDC begins, and I’m looking forward to it like never before! Despite being on the other side of the Atlantic, I really feel involved and it’s entirely down to the PDC Bloggers. I can’t wait until the meaty stuff is revealed!

Omegacorner.com

Dell have been disappointingly slow to release updated drivers for the ATI Radeon Mobility 9000 video card in my laptop, so I tried the updated drivers from ATI’s website. Unfortunately they detect the Mobility chip and don’t let you install them.

As luck would have it, someone going by the name of Omegadrive regularly releases improved versions which install and work brilliantly on any Radeon card, mobile or not… Check them out!

Introducing The Regulator

Oct 23, 2003 by Graeme in Uncategorized

Nice one, Roy! Could this be the best regex tool yet?

An advanced regular expression tool with expert features such as:

  • Syntax highlighting and folding
  • Multi threaded operations : ability to cancel long running expression matches and replaces
  • Search and import expressions and examples from RegexLib.com’s database, all this from within regulator
  • Regex snippets: an easy and simple toolbar of frequently used text snippets
  • Minimize to tray
  • Ability to select part of the regex text, and only that part will be used to run the match or replace (kind of like SQL query analyzer)

MS Bluetooth update

Oct 21, 2003 by Graeme in Uncategorized

ChrisAn has spoken to the Microsoft people working on the company’s Bluetooth products, and it’s not good news. It looks like there isn’t any secret master plan to bring a fully fledged Bluetooth stack to Windows, at least not at the moment. As Chris says, bummer.

There are a couple of things to take away from this:

  • Only a Microsoft employee was able to get this information from Microsoft on behalf of the rest of us. This is bad.
  • Once he’d done the digging he was free to publish his findings on his blog. This is good.

Pointless spam

Oct 21, 2003 by Graeme in Uncategorized

Here’s an unsolicited email I received this morning:

keep in touch jim let me know how college is going

That’s it, there’s no more. How is that going to enlarge my bank balance/genitals? Maybe the sender wasn’t sure about Jim’s email address and sent it to the whole world, just in case.

Logitech diNovo Media Desktop

Oct 20, 2003 by Graeme in Uncategorized

Via Gizmodo:

Pricey new Bluetooth keyboard and mouse combo from Logitech. The diNovo Media Desktop comes with both a wireless Bluetooth keyboard and Logitech’s MX900 Cordless Optical Mouse, but what really makes it worth the cash is that it comes with a third wireless Bluetooth peripheral called the MediaPad which can be used to control your PC’s music and video software, tell you if you have a new email or instant message, and even double as a calculator.

There’s a pretty good FAQ available on Logitech’s Bluetooth centre. Amongst other things, it lists the profiles supported by their hub:

  • Generic Access
  • Serial Port
  • Dial-up Networking
  • LAN Access
  • Generic Object Exchange
  • Object Push
  • File Transfer
  • Synchronisation (SYNC)
  • Headset
  • Hardcopy Cable Replacement
  • Human Interface Devices

It also informs us that they use the WIDCOMM stack and has some decent information on stacks in general, the Microsoft stack, the BIP profile and so on. Worth a quick flick through!

iTunes not that great, actually

Oct 18, 2003 by Graeme in Uncategorized

“The iTunes Music Store is not available in your country yet. You will be able to browse music and listen to previews, but you won’t be able to purchase music unless your billing address is in the United States.”
